The world's most famous casino is no doubt here, in Monte Carlo, the larger part
of the principality of Monaco.
How does such a tiny entity as Monaco really manage - at least formally - to remain
independent ? By making confirm; again and again, its sovereignty by its big
neighbours in favourable moments. The first time this happened was in 1489,
with Charles VII of France and the Count of Savoy. For the last and final time on
the 02/02/1861 when for the benefit of France, Monaco renounced to 80% of its territory.
