Churches in Barcelona
Beneath you can see the photographs of the cathedral,
the Església de la Mercè and the Església Santa Maria del Mar.
The Església de la Mercè
It is located rather close to the Passeig Colom on the altitude of the
Capitanía General, ie only a few metres away of the old port.
In 1917 Pablo Picasso passed it many times.
He just got back from Paris and used to live here around the corner
in the Carrer de la Mercè 3; he had a lover living in a pension
at the Passeig de Colom, the ballet-dancer Olga Koklova, whom he got
married to later on. On the photograph another marriage is just taking place.
